Travel Vaccinations – Lighthouse Medical Practice

Current Service Status

We offer travel vaccinations at our Practice, however, our appointment capacity is extremely limited due to staffing constraints. These appointments are offered strictly on a first-come, first-served basis and we are unable to prioritise patients based on individual travel needs or timelines.

Our capacity is restricted because only a small number of our nursing team are trained in travel health, and we must also ensure we meet essential clinical service requirements. This means availability may be limited, and in some cases we may not be able to offer appointments within the time frame required for your destination or vaccination schedule.

For the best chance of securing your travel vaccinations on time, we recommend

If we have availability, we will secure you an appointment and send you form to complete- please do not send in forms without an appointment as they will not be processed. If you do not require any vaccinations then your appointment will be cancelled and you will be contacted by our team to inform you of this, usually by text message.

Please note that we will only be able to process travel forms that are completed in full and handed in at least 6 weeks before departure date.

Why capacity is limited

We are actively recruiting additional nursing staff, but new nurses require specialised travel health training which is not always available and takes considerable time.

Alternatively, for guaranteed/fast vaccination appointments, please consider:

Private travel clinics
Registering with an NHS practice that has greater vaccination capacity (please note: you would need to leave our practice to do this as you cannot be registered at more than one Practice)
Dedicated travel health centres
